Meet Janis
Hi, I’m Janis, the founder and owner of Apex Sports Therapy. With over 18 years of licensed experience in sports therapy and almost a decade as a practicing yoga instructor, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my practice. At Apex, I specialize in delivering unique sports therapy techniques that blend relaxation with clinical precision. My mission is to offer exceptional care through personalized treatment plans, tailored to effectively address and alleviate complex pain conditions.
18+ Years of Expert Sports Therapy

In 2007, Janis launched her sports therapy career in Los Angeles, California, where she honed her skills at massage school. Her first role as a licensed sports massage therapist was in a chiropractic office, where she provided crucial support to injured patients, helping them relax and recover in a clinical environment after their chiropractic adjustments.
After a couple of years in Los Angeles, Janis relocated to Orlando, Florida, where she transitioned into the professional sports therapy market. She worked at a prominent sports therapy clinic in the Dr. Phillips neighborhood, a hub for Major League Baseball's spring training and home to one of the 41 Sections of the PGA of America. During her time in Orlando, Janis treated elite athletes, including professional baseball players preparing for the season and pro golfers competing in PGA tournaments.
Janis is now based in the San Diego, California area, where she owns and operates Apex Sports Therapy, providing specialized treatments to clients in need of recovery and optimization.

With years of hands-on experience, Janis has developed highly effective sports therapy techniques designed to eliminate complex pain conditions. Her deep understanding of the body’s biomechanics allows her to address multifaceted issues and tailor treatments to each individual's needs.

Janis's commitment to ongoing education is evident in her certifications in yoga, assisted stretching, cupping therapy, LightStim red light therapy and much more. She is also currently advancing her expertise through an advanced yoga anatomy teacher training program. Janis’s continuous pursuit of knowledge ensures that her clients receive the most informed, innovative and effective care possible.
A Passion for Yoga

In addition to her sports therapy expertise, Janis is a passionate advocate of yoga. A dedicated practitioner for over 17 years, she attended the Yoga Six Teacher Training Program in 2017. She seamlessly integrates her yoga knowledge into her practice, offering clients personalized stretching advice that targets specific ailments.
Janis is excited to integrate her expertise as a yoga teacher into her sports therapy practice by offering one-on-one, private yoga sessions tailored to individuals new to yoga or those looking to improve their range of motion. She also plans to specialize in postoperative and recovery yoga, guiding clients through gentle, restorative movements that support healing and help restore strength and mobility following injury or surgery. Each class will be personalized to address your specific needs, ensuring a safe and effective approach to recovery and wellness. Classes will be offered soon and available for booking by appointment only.
Balancing Wellness and Fun

Outside of her professional life, Janis embraces an active lifestyle. She has a passion for trail running, often challenging herself with one or two races a year in rugged, high-elevation terrain trails. When she’s not on the trails, Janis loves spending quality time with her beloved Min-Pin-Chihuahua, Midori. For a creative outlet, she enjoys playing the electric guitar and ukulele.
